Well, at least the dialogue allows to make it clear that this relationship is still important.
When I was working on that beach photoset, thinking of more silly Shepard and his antics… I got this idea that he and Ash might enjoy messing with each other. Like, he’d sneak up behind, try ro scare or tickle her, then run away, and she’d chase after him, and then he’d run to Kaidan for protection. Though it’s likely just his way of getting him into the “game”.
