Focus on the platonic, non-sexual, "soulmatey" aspect of the relationship, but there ARE occasional hints at romance (pretty much all combinations of those three, including both male and female Shepards).

We beat all the bad guys, all is fine. Then suddenly Kaidan decides to have a sit, randomly.
He just remained in one place, no matter what the commander did.
Shep wondered if maybe he got hurt or felt sick or something. Kaidan wouldn’t tell.
In the end, Shepard just joined him to at least make it look like they were actually up to something, and the whole situation had some meaning.
Wrex was unimpressed the entire time.
